We used Abeka from K-12. In my experience Abeka used Phonics past the grade that you stated and from K-2 students learned to read and from 3rd grade on, they read to learn. Abeka has a really good reading program with lots of Phonics reinforcement.
Learning to read was really painless for my kids and they learned how to read easily and still LOVE to read. My vote, Abeka! I have been using Rod & Staff since 2nd grade. I am getting ready for ds to be in 6th grade and I want to go to either Abeka or BJU for middle school/high school.
Abeka Economics Quiz 16, I can't get my hands on good samples of either. Can you help compare/constrast them for me? My dd did abeka spanish in 8th grade and found it very difficult. We aren't around many spanish speaking people so that certainly doesn't help. We are now using Rosetta Stone for spanish and she likes it alot more.
Abeka Economics Quiz 16, Has anyone used Abeka math? I am wanting to switch to Abeka curriculum next year, and Lil Lumpy is behind in math. I always use a year lower. She will be in fourth grade. We had done Abeka Science and Language Arts for 3rd and 4th last year with the girls. I went to private school and used Abeka k-6th and Bob Jones for 7th-9th.
I know it is very rigorous, but we want our kids to be on grade level with their peers and the unit study approach was all over the place. I plan to start at the beginning and work through. I currently homeschool my son who is in 5th grade using abeka curriculum. He does well with all of the subjects, sometimes history is a little difficult, but it has been acceptable.
