Atf Boruu, Currently , the OEM Hyundai SP4-M ATF is over $20 per quart (ouch) . *When Maxlife ATF is $18 per gallon and Hyundai OEM is $80 per gallon - that is a significant cost difference to consider ! I will be confidently putting castrol transmissionmax lv atf to replace the FZ fluid. I've already done two drain and fills before. At first used genuine mazda fz, and second time used Ravenol Fz.
Atf Boruu, Imo, the ravenol fz stuff is superior to the mazda stuff as i felt transmission performed better... The EP atf is really good and I've recommended it many times. I'd use it in newer 8 and 9 speeds but for older 6 speeds i'd try to use something a bit thicker. I don't really care for the cheper red atf/cvt maxlife one. There are also two WS viscosities the thin cafe spec American one and the thicker non American one and it seems the thinner one is known for causing issues as that trans is ... It's just a basic hydraulic system.
Any compatible dextron atf fluid will be fine. Transmissions have clutches and other complex mechanisms and can be more picky about fluid choices. Power steering only has a simple pump. MaxLife ATF looks like a competitor to Amsoil and it is actually certified for use in Toyota Aisin transmissions, but it just doesn't get the same level of rave reviews and people claiming it fixed existing issues.
