Bowling Green Municipal Utilities (BGMU) serves the Bowling Green Kentucky area by providing Water, Electrical, Voice, Internet service & more. BGMU’s Electric Division Today, BGMU has 500 Megawatts of system transformer capacity, serves almost 50,000 customers, and employs approximately 100 electric employees. Power is purchased from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and is distributed through more than 362 miles of electrical lines that run underground and on poles throughout the city.

BGMU maintains 2,515 fire hydrants. Water line crews manage 297 miles of water lines and 284 miles of sewer lines. In BGMU’s service territory, there are four water pressure zones that are regulated by five system water tanks. There are 5,720 manholes, 6,736 system valves, and 59 sewer pump stations throughout our system.

Bgmu Outages, BGMU’s Water/Wastewater Division Barren River provides water to residents in Warren County. BGMU pumps river water into the Water Treatment Plant where the water is treated and then pumped to five water storage tanks through more than 290 miles of water mains. The Water Treatment Plant can treat up to 45 million gallons per day. BGMU produces water for both wholesale and retail customers ...
