Every day, the members of the FDNY bravely protect life and property in the world's greatest City, as firefighters, EMTs, paramedics and officers. It is an honor and a privilege to work for this great Department. The FDNY doesn't just respond to emergencies, we prevent them, too.
The FDNY is responsible for providing fire suppression services, hazardous materials response, emergency medical services, and technical rescue for the entire city. The FDNY responded at 1:45 p.m. Sunday to reports of fire and smoke at 5311 Fort Hamilton Parkway in Brooklyn. Units arrived in about four minutes and were met with heavy smoke coming from the doorways of the building.
