Q99 Contests - LifeStyle

The Roanoke Times: Mount Pleasant Girl Scouts win Q99 contest, sell cookies during broadcast With the first--and then second--Q99 the lamp would flicker badly. Between the two I tried different fount pressures, fuel levels, adding, removing and changing packing types, amounts and packing placement all to no avail. Also, it was a persistent issue to keep the generator from leaking at the base where it seats into the valve body.

I think the Q99 was actually already well-annealled before the straightening. When the gen was being being straightened, there's bound to be some work-hardening. You'd need to re-anneal and soften it again by heating to dull-red and quenching before bending it back into a loop. That's the problem with a lot of brasses.

Q99 Contests, I’m working on the 227 that you fine folks “coaxed” me into getting. So, I guess the burner and generator have been updated. I thought I was going to be able to get by with the generator that came on it (55?) but today discovered that I broke the cleaning tip off. So my question is do I go back with an r55 or can I run a q99? Either way, I will have to order a reproduction one from OCP ...

Q99 Contests, It's a Sunshine Safety lantern, need to clean the pickup tube and get a new q99 generator for it , it's plugged bad Unfortunately, the Sunshine doesn't use a Q99--unless the burner has been replaced with a Coleman Q burner, which isn't unusual. SS gen: Top of valve: Coleman Q99 screws into the valve, SS screws onto the valve. The Q99 looks nice, but trying to get two burners running evenly with them is a challenge. 27tpi = flare nut, q99 external thread is good for checking that. 40tpi = tip cleaner packing nut.
